Transforming Waste into Clean Energy: Biogas Training in Bamenda.
By Nchepnda Jonathan
The Ideal Planet, under the banner of the University of Bamenda, recently conducted an immersive Biogas Production training as part of Phase Two of the Universities Youth Environmental Talk show. The program was led by master’s students from the College of Technology, University of Bamenda and brought together about 40 young participants eager to gain practical knowledge in waste management and renewable energy solutions.

Participants learned how organic waste can be converted into biogas, a clean and renewable source of energy. A practical demonstration allowed them to see biogas in action, with a sample being displaced and even burnt to show its readiness for home or community use. This hands-on experience highlighted the immediate benefits of biogas, from energy generation to the production of nutrient-rich slurry for agriculture.
The training emphasized entrepreneurial opportunities. Attendees explored how biogas production can be developed into small-scale businesses, supplying energy to households, schools, and farms while also producing fertilizer for sale. This approach reinforces that environmental solutions can also create sustainable income and community impact.

Through interactive, practical sessions, participants gained technical skills in designing and operating biogas systems. Each participant received a Certificate of Participation, recognizing their learning, engagement, and commitment to applying sustainable solutions in their communities.

Witness the power of waste turned into energy. Implement biogas solutions in your community, explore sustainable energy ventures, and contribute to cleaner, greener, and economically empowered cities.
