FROM WASTE TO WEALTH: BAMBILI ENVIRONMENTAL INVASION
On March 4th and 5th, we launched the Bambili Community Environmental Invasion – a high-impact mission in collaboration with Eco Friendly Generation (Ecofrige) to turn environmental concern into direct action.

Why this project?
Bambili is a vibrant hub of activity as it hosts the lone regional state-owned university (UBa), but its rapid growth has brought a silent environmental threat – (plastic waste). Streets and farmlands are increasingly littered with debris that threatens local health and environmental stability. For us, this isn’t just a nuisance; it is a direct challenge to SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities)
Our Innovative approach to tackling this (Phase 1)

Our team and a dedicated group of participants took to the streets for an intensive cleanup campaign. Our goal was two-fold:
Immediate Remediation: Removing as much plastic as possible to protect our land and water.
Resource Recovery: Shifting the perspective of “litter” to “raw material” by collecting waste specifically for recycling.

While the physical cleanup was the visible part of the mission, the underlying success was the shift in mindset. We didn’t just pick up trash; we fostered a sense of shared responsibility. By working side-by-side, participants practiced the true meaning of community service proving that we are the primary guardians of our own environment.

The cleanup was only the beginning. We didn’t just gather waste to hide it away – we gathered it to transform it. Stay tuned for our update on Day 2, where we dive into the creative process of upcycling and turning waste into value.
